A Quick Efficient Solution for PPC Advertisers

If you have any experience with Pay Per Click marketing, you know that putting together an effective campaign can be very time consuming, especially if you are working online directly in your provider's website. Whether it's AdWords, Yahoo Search or MSN Ad Center, all of these services have greatly improved their tools and over all functionality. Nonetheless, it's really quite time consuming to even sketch out the bare bones of a PPC campaign.

Ok, that's the problem. What's the solution? The program I like the best is SpeedPPC.

Speed PPC is a unique product because it allows lots of flexibility and creativity. Here's an update on some of the ways SpeedPPC can be used and some of its unique features.

SPEED

If you've worked with GAW, YSM or MSNAD, you know that thir online interfaces are a bit clunky, and sometimes downright slow. So an effective solution to slow PPC campaign building must be fast, fast, fast.

That's why a huge benefit of SpeedPPC is the speed factor. You do not have to play with the online interface anymore. Just plug-in your parameters and build them. You start with a list of "seed" keywords, and then, with a stroke of the mouse, develop hundreds, actually even thousands of effective seed and expansion keywords for your campaigns. Lots of people are thinking that it’s only able to combine on geography. This is just not so. You can combine on almost anything.

Think about Product Names, Model Names, Model Numbers, Part Names, Book Titles, Movie Titles, Movie Stars, Music Artists, Album Names, Song Names, Brand Names, Restaurant Names, Comic Titles, Action Heroes, People’s Names, Domain Names, Video Game Titles, Musical Instruments, Magazine Names, Software Titles, Occupations, Animal Types, Animal Breeds etc.

Then expand on these with words like reviews, review, free shipping, coupons, rating etc.

Now you don’t even need to expand on anything. You only have to group by seed and create a new ad group for each keyword with a perfectly matching ad. This is amazing and powerful because you are now composing ads that match on the keyword level, rather than the ad group level which will dramatically increase your CTR.

THE ABILITY TO RUN FULL SCALE TESTING

Before I discovered the the SpeedPPC system I used to have to test with just a few ad groups to make sure that the niche was profitable before I spent loads of time on it. The trouble with that is that you might dismiss niches as unprofitable because you had pulled out the wrong sub-set of the niche.

I found that with SpeedPPC, I just roll the whole thing out without it really taking any more time. Time is no longer such a big issue.

AMAZING RELEVANCY

What about relevancy? I am sure you have been frustrated at times when you uploaded a list of keywords for your ads that you felt were very relevant to your offer, only to see a quality score of "ok" or "poor". SpeedPPC helps you create amazing relevancy. Your Keyword to Text Ad to Landing Page is so tightly matched that you will undoubtedly experience some real improvements in your CTR’s and conversions.

You can even have just one keyword per ad group, which means your ad is going to be matched on the keyword level, rather than at the ad group level. Powerful!

This also helps to ensure that you get a good quality score.

HIGHLY FLEXIBLE

I have found SpeedPPC is designed to be highly flexible and allows you to get very creative. If you work with an affiliate merchant’s datafeed, for example, you can pull out the product names and the deeplink URL. So you can take 1000 products and create 1000 ad groups around that product, with perfectly matching ads, directly linking into the product page (via an affiliate link). All in less than 10 minutes.

FLEXIBLE AND POWERFUL LANDING PAGE OPTIONS

SpeedPPC is made so you can use almost any landing page option you want. Of course you have to pay attention to your supplier's terms of service, if they don't allow direct linking of course you wouldn't use that as a destination url. That being said, take a look at a few options and examples:

Direct link to the home page.

Link through 3rd party systems.

Direct link through affiliate links to the home page.

Deep link through affiliate links pulled out of datafeeds.

You can link directly into individual website search engines to get the most relevant content.

Link into dynamically altered pages to suit original search keywords.

Link into the SpeedPPC Datafeed software which will pull relevant content out of the affiliates datafeed to dynamically build pages.

There are lots of other ways you can use this. Just use your creative mind!

TRACKING ON THREE LEVELS!

Using the SpeedPPC System you can track on many levels including on the keyword, ad group and the ad source.

RUNS ON YOUR OWN COMPUTER – Complete Confidentialty

Since the program runs on your own computer, there are no worries about your provider spying on your data. And, you only pay one time for this amazingly effective resource, there are no devastatingly expensive monthly fees.

AN AFFILIATE MARKETING UTOPIA

For all you affiliate marketers, the affiliate datafeed tool (which hasn’t had much press) is amazing.

What it allows you to do in practice is to take an affiliate program datafeed, create a campaign around every product, which then links into a pre-selling landing page on your own site that’s matched exactly to the product keywords. This then deep links into the merchant’s site via your affiliate link.

So if there are 1000 products, you could create 1000 ad groups (1 per product), thousands of perfectly matched ads that refer to the product exactly.

These will then link into 1000 landing pages with the right images and content pulled from the original datafeed, which then deep links into the affiliate merchant site.

Now this would normally take weeks or months to do manually. With the SpeedPPC System you could pull this off in half a day or less.

Give it a shot, it's not cheap, but neither is your time.

Organising keywords, as far as PPC (pay per click advertising) is concerned, can be sorted into three parts.

1. Compile a list of relevant keywords
2. Use them correctly in your Google ads
3. Manage your campaign with the right adwords software

By the time we get to part three we will need software to manage our PPC campaign and there is nothing better than the wonderful Ad Grenade.

For now we will concentrate on how to find a suitable list of keyword phrases to use in your ppc campaign - at zero cost !

When it comes to keyword research you can do it all with only two tools and they are both free ! - Traffic Travis and one from Google rather oddly entitled 'Keyword External Tool'.

I would encourage you to stick to these free products to start with - why spend money when you don't need to ?

How To Compile A Large list Of Relevant Keywords - FREE

To begin with, compile a list of obvious phrases within your niche, for example 'grow roses', ‘how to grow roses’, ‘how to grow climbing roses’, ‘how to grow hardy roses’ etc. Another free tip, enter your phrases into the Google search box and see if the dropdown menu comes up with more suggestions.

Click on the 'keyword finder' in Traffic Travis and enter your list, one at a time, then send everything that T.T. has found to the 'sorter' where you will get rid of the inevitable duplications as well as single word phrases and ones consisting of more than ten words. Anyone interested in free stuff will probably not turn out to be a buyer ! Traffic Travis will enable you to download your list to a *.txt file where you will manually delete unsuitable keywords.

At this point we load the entire list into Google's 'Keyword Tool External' and click the 'Get Keyword Ideas button, then add any other keywords, that Google has suggested, to the list. When you download your list to a text file you will discover that it is arranged alphabetically.

Your final task is to re-arrange your list into very targeted groups of keywords, that is phrases that are very tightly related. You must understand how important this is, the keywords that your ad represents must both appear on the page the ad is pointing to and reflect what the page is about.

There isn't space here to go into precise detail on how to use the two tools I have mentioned, however, I think the Google tool is almost self explanatory and Traffic Travis has some very good tutorials.

This is the right adwords software at the right price.

In other articles I will describe how I use keywords within a campaign and how to manage the campaign itself. I will explain, in part three, how to organise your whole campaign, when it will become obvious why, if you really want to make money, it can only be done with the right adwords software.

Are you the proud owner of a website ? Have you tweaked it until you cannot imagine how it could be improved further ? Your certain that any visitors will be impressed and may well buy your product or service. These customers have to be driven to your site and how to you imagine this is going to happen ?

Here's why you can't do it without adwords software.

There is no shortage of advice on how to get traffic and there are certainly enough ways of doing it, so which one or ones should you concentrate on ? This article is designed to lure people to my site and then there is writing for blogs, forums, social websites and now posting promotional videos on sites like You Tube, not to mention SEO. All of these methods work but most of them take a while to work, if you want visitors NOW then the 300 lb gorilla of traffic is Google's pay per click advertising.

Fill in a search term on Google, hit 'search' and over to the right of the page you should see a number of pay per click ads. Clicking on any of them will result in Google charging the advertiser for the privilege of putting you through to the ad owners website. You may well know this already but what you might not be aware of is the contrast between how most people create adwords campaigns and how the 'big boys' do it.

If, like me, you have had the experience of cost of clicks always outstripping sales then you might find, what follows, useful.

The serious players create a huge list of relevant keywords, often using nothing more than Google's own, excellent, free tool which they call External Keyword Tool. Compiling this list is too big a topic to cover here but it will be the subject of another of my articles that will be published, along with all the rest, on my site. Now they concentrate on putting together the ads themselves. The ads are put into 'groups' with two versions of the same ad in each to discover which brings in fewer sales and replace it. With just one keyword per group it should be the headline of the ad, the benefits of your item or service are promoted in lines 2 and 3 with the final line reserved for your site's url.

You have probably already spotted a problem with this plan - the work involved ! I'll leave you to think about the impact on your home life of being glued to your computer 8, 10, 12 hours a day ! Let's also bear in mind that Google only allows twenty five characters, at most, in the headline, so what do we do ?

Obviously remaining small could be the answer and just forget about this large scale approach, the problem is scale works. On another occasion I will explain why begining your PPC campaign with hundreds, if not thousands, of keywords is a good plan.

O.K. so we create adwords campaigns on a large scale to find those elusive, order producing, keywords but obviously this cannot be done manually. Automation in the form of adwords software, I quickly discovered, is the only way forward. It needs to be able handle hundreds, even thousand of keywords and ad groups and have them set up to be easily uploaded to the web. You must know which of your keywords are making sales and that can only be achieved by giving each and every one a tracking code, in addition the software has to be able to slot in default headline when the keyword phrase consists of more than twenty five characters.

If I was going to make any real money I new that semi-automatic software was a must, however I was concerned about cost and my own lack of technical ability.

The software that I came across initially I'm sure did the job but I found it very difficult to understand and boy it cost a packet !

Then I discovered Ad Grenade.

Then I found Ad Grenade that not only does everything I mentioned above but has great tutorials, marvellous help facilties and is very keeny priced. This was one of the big turning points for me online, which means, in fact, that I started to make real money and so could you !

Over the past few years, many different biding strategies circled the web. Most of them were based on experience, without any real reason why should they work for your business. The problem is that experience in online business is always limited. In some industries, ad positions between 4 and 6 give the best results, in other, first position works much better. Even in the same industry, different products can have different price, conversion rate or different business model.

Changing and testing different bids to achieve larger profit is always an option. But it takes too long and it can be really expensive. Automated bid managers can help, but time and money still remain large issues.

That is why it would be ideal to choose keyword bids that will work best for you without spending much time and money. So the question is: how to maximize your profit without spending months of adjusting the bids? This technique will show you just how you can do that.

All you need to use are AdWords Traffic Estimator and conversion tracking.

The measure we want to optimize is of course our profit. Other measures like CTR, conversion rate, ad position, CPC or even ROI are less important. First you install conversion tracking on your site, collect the data and calculate your average conversion value (divide profit by number of conversions). Then go to the AdWords Traffic Estimator and for each AdGroup:

1. Enter all AdGroup keywords.
2. Adjust targeting settings.
3. Select bid range for the estimates. It should be the range where you think your optimal bid probably is. It is not a problem if your real optimal bid is outside this range (step 6 deals with that problem).
4. Make iterative estimates for the bids in selected bid range. E.g. if you selected bid range between 1 and 2 USD, make iterative estimates for AdGroup bids of 1, 1.2, 1.4, 1.6, 1.8 and 2 USD. More estimates you make, more accurate your results will be.
5. For every estimate, you need to calculate estimated profit. Estimated profit = Estimated clicks per day *(Conversion value * Conversion rate - Estimated Average CPC).
6. If the highest estimated profit is on one of the bid range borders, move your bid range and go to step 4.
7. If you are satisfied with the distance between estimated bids (if you think the results are precise enough) go to step 8, if not: select the bids with the highest estimated profit as the new bid range and go to step 4.
8. Bid that gives the highest estimated profit should become the new AdGroup bid.

And that's it. If you want, you can use the same strategy to optimize bids on the keyword level.

Downside of this approach is that you can use it for search network only. You cannot make estimates for the content network in the AdWords Traffic Estimator. To fix this issue and to automate the whole process, you can use this AdWords Tool.

AdWords Intelligence as one of its many features includes Bid Estimator Tool. Bid Estimator Tool uses AdWords API to download statistical data for your AdGroups and traffic estimates for the whole range of bids. It uses advanced algorithms to make those estimates as accurate as possible. AdWords Intelligence works for search and content network.
