PPC Software – Which Is Best ?

In the unforgiving world of PPC advertising, the few make money and the majority make money for good old Google, which group do you belong to ?
There is a dawn chorus that's heard in almost every country in the world, is it the birds greeting the dawn, no it's the sound of running, often naked, feet heading to wherever the PC is in the home. First the Google home page, then 'advertising programs', followed by 'Google Adwords', followed by - disappointment as, once again, they discover the sales column is blank and the cost one full !
The successful know all about Ad Grenade
In many cases they may as well be checking national lottery numbers because they are gambling much more so than they realise. In the PPC ocean only the professionals have a chance of avoiding the sharks and getting to the island of profit. Considering the fact that around 90% of online businesses don't make it past the first 3 months I can't imagine that, for most, PPC advertising is any more successful.
I have written a great deal elsewhere, including on my own website, about how to find keywords, how use them properly and how to write adword ads that get clicked on and there just is not space here to go through it all again. I do need to repeat, however, that I believe in big numbers when it comes to a PPC campaign - but please, do not begin by bidding on the whole list !The best way, I have discovered, is to have a very large campaign loaded into Google Adwords but only use a fairly small (perhaps a couple of hundred) 'live' at any one time, cutting out the unsuccessful and replacing them with more from your 'paused' list.
For example I have had campaigns with more than five thousand ad groups, with a small number on Google pages, and the rest 'paused' for when and if they are needed. Once up there, these large campaigns are, for reasons we don't have space for here, easier to manage but that poses the question is 'is it possible to put together such a campaign in less than a week ?'
In short, it isn't, the only way around this seemingly impossible task is PPC software that is capable of creating the campaign in minutes, not days, and handing it over to Google Adwords Editor for loading into your Adwords account. Having 'seen the light', the next task was to track down software that could do everything I needed it to and in a way I could easily understand.
Two products appeared to be the PPC software I was looking for as they both claimed to be able to carry out the following tasks.
- Handle keyword lists of any size
- Give every single keyword some sort of tracking code so I could figure out which produced sales and which should be ditched
- Could place two versions of an ad within every ad group so that I could see which performed best
- Make the keyword, where possible, the headline of the ad.
- Where the keyword was longer than Google's maximum of 25 characters, substitute a default headline, automatically, that had been prepared in advance.
- 'Explode' the whole campaign so that it could be loaded directly into Google's Adwords Editor in minutes without any fuss.
- Very clear tutorials and an excellent help desk
The first product I looked at was $399 and the second $147 and while I never like to pay more than I have to that big price gap might, I felt, mean a big quality gap.
I plumped for the less expensive one, I new if it was no good they would refund me under their no-nonsense guarantee. I had a keyword list ready to go so that I could try Ad Grenade out straight away and return it quickly if things didn't work out, I never returned it, this hopeless techie was in PPC heaven.
It is simply impossible to become a serious player in the often very competitive world of pay per click advertising without using and controlling medium and large scale campaigns and that's impossible without top notch PPC software. As someone who uses Ad Grenade for all my campaigns and can't imagine how I could manage without it, I urge you to, at the very least, watch a demonstration of it in action.
