The title of top PPC network on the internet still belongs to Google Adwords, and they are expected to remain on top for years. What's great about Adwords is that anyone can setup an account and run a campaign in a few hours. However, you are limited to just 35 text characters per line so you have to type in a specific manner to get favorable results. You just need to learn how to write ads specifically for Ad words in order to profit from it.

Learning what to write in each line, and making sure you are using the right URL extensions are just some of the critical elements of a successful Google Adwords ad. If you're just starting a new Google Adwords campaign, here are some essential tips for writing that first ad:

1. Headlines must contain your keyword. Perry Marshall and Bryan Todd, authors of the book "The Ultimate Guide to Google AdWords" explain that more people click on ads when the headline includes the keyword or keyphrase that they were searching on. Use this technique to grab the attention of your target audience instantly.

2. Describe your benefit in the second line. Internet users usually take action when they see a benefit after reading the attention-grabbing headline. Make sure you are listing your benefit on the second line, not your offer or a feature. Think in terms of 'giving them what they want' first before stating your product's attributes.

3. State a feature or offer on the third line.  When you've clearly stated the benefit, then it's time to introduce your special offer or a feature that supports the benefit. Keep it short and simple, and make sure this line does not overpower the second line.

4. Use the last line for your landing page. You can link your ads into any page or URL within your website. Do not link all your ads to your homepage. You can create a specific landing page for each ad to match the page's content with that of your ad's. This can also be used to obtain performance data on your ads, which you will need for optimizing your campaign later.

5. Test results with a similarly written ad. Split-testing means running two similar ads at the same time to see which one will gather more clicks. We do this to know whether slight changes in words or ad structure can produce more clicks. Track which ad performs better and drop the less effective ad.

Don't be afraid to start your very first Google Adwords campaign. You'll soon be able to grasp the dynamics of a successful Adwords campaign with practice. Follow these guidelines and start running ads now.
