Most newbies bid high to get that initial exposure. When your CTR is a higher, then you can slowly lower your bid price. You aim is to have the lowest possible price that still keeps your ad on the first page.

Another common bidding strategy is the reverse of the above strategy. This is best used for keywords that are less competitive and for people who have budget that are limited. You begin by bidding low and then slowly increasing your bid price until you land on the first page. Of course, you must still try to get the lowest price possible, while still keeping your ad on the first page.

Use Negative Keywords

The use of negative keywords prevents your ads from appearing in search results that are totally unrelated. There is a selected market of people you want to focus on and your ad must appears in front of them. If you don't use the negative keywords function, your ad could appear on the wrong place and wrong people. For example, you might be selling a dog collar and "collar" is your keyword. Your ad will appear each time a person types in "collar", but there are many topics surrounding the word "collar" and the person may not be necessarily looking for dog collar. He could be looking for cat collar. This is where you used the negative keywords, add "cat" into the list and your ad would not appear. You should always put in a negative keyword so that your ads do not appear on unnecessary searches. This helps increase your CTR and most of your visitors are more likely to buy from your site.

Ad Testing

Testing ads is very important,you can do this easily with Google AdWords. In fact, you don't have to do anything with Google AdWords at all when it comes to testing. You simply place two different ads in each Ad group. Google displays both of these for you and record your CTR. After sometime, Google will decide which ad works best and use it more often.
